Welcome Back to School!

Red Rock  Students and Families,

We have some exciting changes for the 2017-2018 school year.  We have lots of great teachers returning this year, as well as several new teachers at Red Rock:

Mrs. Moya - Kindergarten (From Uplift)

Ms. Owens - 1st Grade (From the Carlsbad area)

Mrs. Aragonez - 2nd Grade (UNM Graduate)

Ms. Petranovich - 3rd Grade (UNM Graduate)

Mrs. Matkovich - 3rd Grade (Former GMCS)

Mrs. Kezele - Special Education (Former GMCS and BIE)

Ms. Calasagsag - Special Education (Transfer from David Skeets)

Our Pre-School and Pre-K program now have their own playground, conveniently located near their classrooms.  One of Red Rock's veteran teachers, Ms. Stotler, will be taking over the three year old classroom, while Ms. Fierro continues teaching the four year olds.  We anticipate an invigorating learning environment for our youngest students.

Again, our primary focus will be on English Language Arts (ELA) and Math.  We will be using the Istations program which the PED had adopted for monthly progress monitoring and skills building in ELA.  MyOn is an online personalized literacy program that monitors student activity and growth, using the Lexile system.   For math we will use My Math for grades Kindergarten, 1st, and 2nd grades.  We will use a combination of MyMath and Eureka Math for grades 3, 4, and 5.

Attendance and promptness plays a huge role in your student's success.  Please have your student to school before 7:45 a.m. so he or she does not miss out on breakfast in the classroom.  All lunches and breakfasts are free again this school year.  We are a peanut free facility at Red Rock Elementary.  We have several students with peanut allergies and one with an air borne peanut allergy.  If your child brings lunch to school, please provide peanut free products to keep all of our children safe.

One more thing, just a friendly reminder that every Friday is Early Release Friday.  Please make arrangements to pick your child up at 12:30 or be waiting for the students who walk or ride the bus.  If you are ever late picking your child up after school, you may park and walk into the Library to retrieve your child.

Please help us make this year a great experience for your child at Red Rock Elementary!

Sharmyn Munoz, Principal

Preschool Program

Preschool - 3 year olds

Pre K - 4 Year olds

Preschool is open Monday - Thursday, it is closed on Fridays.

Parents must walk their child in to the classroom every day and sign them in.  When you pick your child up, you must walk into the class and sign them out.  Please do not send your school aged child to drop off or pick up.  Preschool is an optional program, it is not mandated by the state.   Students are tested and slots are based on need.  This is not a free babysitting service.

Congratulation to Red Rock Elementary students.  Our scores are in and we once again are a "B" school! Thank you for your continued dedication and support of your student's education!
